Acoso en Arqueología
La Dra. Barbara Voss, profesora del Departamento de Antropología de la Universidad de Stanford, publicó tres artículos que abordan un tema muchas veces invisibilizado u oculto por un patriarcado estructural vigente en la disciplina arqueológica desde hace mucho tiempo – el acoso. Abordar y confrontar el acoso a grupos minoritarios ha tomado fuerza en los últimos años. Las voces de las y los sobrevivientes a estas agresiones están siendo escuchadas y manejadas de forma directa. En dichos artículos, la autora revisa, analiza e identifica la prevalencia de determinados patrones de acoso, pero también busca generar una reflexión de cómo esto ha afectado su propia carrera. Current research shows that harassment occurs in archaeology at epidemic rates. Harassment especially impacts women, early career archaeologists, archaeologists of color, queer archaeologists, and archaeologists with disabilities. While harassment most directly affects individuals who are targeted, the impact ripples across our discipline, shaping who practices archaeology, what research topics are investigated, and how archaeological data is interpreted and published.

Drawing on public health models, this article outlines evidence-based approaches that can prevent harassment before it happens, support survivors when it does, and hold confirmed perpetrators accountable. These proven interventions leverage existing organizational capacities and build on shared core values of collaboration and collegiality in archaeology.
